Claire & Matt's rustic cornish farm style wedding

I love a wedding with a story, and with something different and personal to the couple – and for beautiful bride Claire and her gorgeous husband Matt the stories are absolutely incredible – as amazing as the images of their day.

Claire grew up in Zennor near St Ives. Her dad has a farm on a hill (Hillside Farm) overlooking the beautiful cornish coast in Zennor. So they chose to get married in Zennor church and have a marquee reception just behind Claire's father's farm, a field with the most stunning views over one of Cornwall's most breathtaking coastlines. Claire and Matt kept the family tradition and work in the farm industry in Hampshire. So it isn't a surprise that the wedding was themed farm/country style with lovely DIY wedding decorations, I especially loved the vintage kettle water trunk filled with ice to keep the drinks cool!

The highlights of the day for me was seeing Claire arriving at the church on with very special wedding car, a tractor! And our little photo excursion with it up the hills near Zennor later on was super fun and well worth the extra time it took to get there involving crossing fields (on the tractor) and climbing over several fences. Claire and Matt wanted to climb up there for the photos as they tell the story of their engagement, so it's a very special location for them, and I'm pleased we went up there as the results are stunning! The proposal is a story in itself: Matt was going to propose at the top of Kilimanjaro, Tanzania but Claire broke her foot and couldn’t go on holiday, so the best man went instead. “John videoed Matt proposing to me at the top. He later showed me the proposal and asked for my answer at the top of Toubkal in the Atlas Mountains – 5 months later – they both kept the secret well!”

One of my favourite weddings I photographed this year, full of surprises, lovely DIY ideas, originality, personality, a stunning location, and most importantly a bunch of fun and relaxed people to work with!

Here is a small selection of my favourite shots from the day..
