Micala & Kevin // Lower Barns Cornwall Elopement Photography
Micala and Kevin’s Lowerbarns elopement. A true ‘runaway wedding’ on the Southcoast of Cornwall…
I do love an elopement wedding, they are so special and intimate, even better if it’s at one of my favourite Elopement venues Lower Barns Boutique Bed and Breakfast on the Cornish Southcoast!
Micala and Kevin decided to have a true ‘runaway wedding’ with just the two of them and didn’t tell their family and friends until the next day. The Ceremony was held in the cosy ‘Love Shack’ , it started off quite drizzly, but when the weather brightened up we ventured to Caerhays beach for some couple photos. The rain stopped, but it couldn’t have been windier, I love a bit of wind though as it makes the images more dynamic and can add a bit of drama. Just before we headed back, the sun came out just for a couple of minutes and added some great light for the last few photos! I think it’s a great set and the two were so natural in front of the camera considering they don’t like their photo taken..
Micala and Kevin, I hope you had a fab evening after I left and you got to use the hot tub a little more ;-)

Charlotte & John's Winter Wedding at The Green Cornwall
My first wedding of the 2019 season was Charlotte and John’s small winter wedding at The Green in Cornwall bursting with personal touches and DIY details. A short coverage, but I love the results…
My first wedding of the season 2019 and it starts at one of my all time favourite venues with Charlotte & John’s small wedding at The Green in Cornwall. As you would expect this time of year, it’s still winter even though it felt like spring recently, the weather was rather changeable, but we managed to stay dry and even seen some glimpses of sunshine, yey!
About the day
What I loved about this day were all these personal touches and DIY details. Starting with the brides and bridesmaids headpieces which were crafted by Charlotte’s friend. Hair was done by one of the bride’s closest friends and bridesmaid Livvy and makeup by her sister Vicky. The decorations and flowers were DIY, the paper flower in Charlotte’s bouquet came from her friend’s bridal bouquet who was married last year. Charlotte made the flower girl’s hair rosette pieces. John and Charlotte’s faithful labrador did a great job as ring bearer. A close friend and usher was leading the ceremony. The bridal entrance was accompanied by the groom and usher’s live singing performance … and the list goes on ... I can’t point out enough how I adore personal touches at a wedding, they make it so much more special by reflecting the couple’s personality and spirit.
I was only booked for my smallest package, so I only stayed with this fun bunch for 3 hours covering a tiny bit of getting ready (as I arrived early..), the ceremony and some photos in the grounds after..
Here are a few highlights, I hope you like them…

Best of 2018 Weddings!
A collection of my favourite shots in 2018. What a year! I had the opportunity to visit some new stunning wedding venues and work with the best wedding suppliers the Southwest has to offer.. I love my job! Roll on 2019…
A collection of my favourite shots from 2018. Thanks to all the lovely couples who let me cover their special days. I had the opportunity to visit some new stunning venues and work with some of the best wedding suppliers the Southwest has to offer. I got stuck in snow during the beast from the east, dodged sheep poo, plenty of rain, incoming tides and so much more, but I can’t tell you how blessed I feel and how much I love my job and you guys are playing an important part in it. A year filled with laughter, tears and so much love. Thanks soooooo much! Roll on 2019…
Cosawes Barton Cornwall Wedding Photographer - Lindsay & Jordan
Jordan and Lindsay tied the knot early November at Cosawes Barton in Cornwall. They had a small intimate wedding with just their closest family and friends. It was rainy, but it didn’t stop them having a great time…
Lindsay and Jordan tied the knot in early November at Cosawes Barton in Cornwall. They had a small wedding with just their closest family and friends, some may call it a ‘petite wedding’. It was one of those Cornish ‘mizzle’ days but that didn’t stop then from having a great time and lucky enough the rain stopped just before the ceremony. The ceremony itself was held in the cosy barn room lovingly decorated by with a beautiful flower arch. With it being dry and surprisingly mild everyone enjoyed some canapés and champagne in the courtyard.
I admire the gardens st Cosawes Barton especially this time of year with beautiful autumn trees adding colour to an overcast day. Unfortunately the rain came back half way trough our couple photo shoot, but who cares about the rain when you have red and golden leaves to brighten up your day! I was only with them for 3 hours and left just before the meal and speeches. It looked like everyone was in good swing for a great evening and I’m sure they enjoyed the rest of the day.
Here is a small collection for you. Thanks again for having me there and I hope you’re enjoying the torquoise waters of the maldives on your honeymoon…xxx

Elopement Photography at magical Lowerbarns in Cornwall // Kourtney & Mike
Courtney and Mike show us that even a rainy day elopement at Lower Barns can be magical…
Kourtney and Mike eloped to Cornwall in the stylish Lowerbarns on September the 22nd this year. Unfortunately it was one of those Cornish ‘Mizzle’ days but it didn't stop them from having a blast on their wedding day. Equipped with umbrellas we braved the rain and went for a photoshoot tour around the eclectic grounds of this beautiful Bed & Breakfast. The photo opportunities here are plenty, there are quirky backdrops around every corner and it really doesn't matter if the weather doesn't go to plan, this place is truly magical! Even more so with the wood burner crackling away.
Kourtney planned this elopement since a year and collected some lovely personal details: her parents run a lobster farm in the United States, so Mike’s tie had a lobster pattern and we even found a great backdrop to integrate her heritage for a couple of shots! The rings had a personal message to each other engraved, which was a surprise on the wedding day, although it took Mike a while to figure out what the message read as the engraving was so small ;-) I’m not sure what it said, but it caused a lot of giggle..
Kourtney and Mike you were wonderful, I feel blessed that I had the opportunity to spend your special 'hideaway' elopement wedding with you.

Wedding Photography at Lower Barns in Cornwall | Helen & Andrew
Helen and Andrew got hitched at the fabulous Lowerbarns Boutique Bed & Breakfast in Cornwall. They just brought their closest family and friends to have a small and intimate wedding..
Andrew and Helen had a small intimate wedding with just their closest family and friends, a true family affair at the fabulous Lower Barns Boutique Bed and Breakfast on the South Cornwall Coast. Micro Weddings became more and more popular in recent years. Not only can you make huge savings, it’s also a more relaxed way to celebrate your special day with just your closest friends and family. It can therefore be more special than planning a big wedding with all the hustle and stress in involved.
They were blessed with gorgeous sunshine and the whole day was packed with good summer vibes, love and laughter. All children had so much fun in the beautiful gardens at Lowerbarns while Andrew, Helen, their cute children and I ventured to the beach to take some portraits in a vintage VW Campervan. The sea looked stunning that day, it somehow looked like a mediterranean coast rather than Cornwall due to the recent lack of rain. The hills have a brownish tint and the sea couldn't have been more turquoise. A stunning location for the coastal shots they wanted!
When we got back we were greeted by beautiful music from the talented wedding singer Steve Young and most delicious food prepared by the team at Lowerbarns. The speeches were rather emotional in parts and the couple struggled to hold back tears, happy tears, good tears! So much love, it was beautiful to watch..
As it was such a nice warm summer evening we moved the dancing to the outdoor patio and the party was soon in full swing..
Here is a small selection of my favourites, hard to select just a few, I could have posted all of them..
Congratulations again to the happy couple, I hope you like the preview xxx

Sarah & Simon's Outdoor Elopement at The Green Weddings Cornwall
Sarah and Simon’s intimate outdoor elopement at The Green Weddings and Events in Cornwall..
Sarah and Simon eloped at the Green Cornwall on the 1st of May. They just brought their closest family with them and their 3 adorable dogs. I arrived at The Green ca 30 minutes before the ceremony and the registrars weren't quite sure if the wedding ceremony could go ahead outdoors as it kept on raining. The tension was high and we all hoped the clouds would move in time as Sarah and Simon dreamt of an outdoor ceremony. The decision was made to go ahead with it last minute and we all stayed dry. The Green offers a lovely outdoor arbour by a pond surrounded by woodland and greenery, a beautiful romantic setting for an outdoor wedding. I'm so pleased for them their dream came true!
One of their pugs has done a great job as the ring bearer and I was quite impressed with the 'pug kisses' ...I just love it when dogs get involved in a wedding! To read about some tips about bringing your dog to your wedding please read my blog post here
We even stayed dry for a little walk through the Green's grounds for some couple portraits straight after the ceremony before we ventured to the house to have some drinks and canapés.
I only stayed with them for ca 2 hours. Here is a little taster
Verity & Ashley's Family Elopement at The Green Wedding & Events in Cornwall
Verity and Ashley’s intimate Family Elopement at The Green Wedding and Events in Cornwall..
Verity and Ashley eloped to Cornwall on the 24th of April. Verity wanted to be pregnant for her wedding and I must say she really timed that well! They only brought their nearest and dearest along with them and it felt more like a intimate family gathering than a big wedding party. A lovely relaxed afternoon with the children playing, dancing and everyone including their gorgeous Beagle mix snuggling up in front of the woodfire in the cosy white house at The Green.
I love playing a part in intimate and personal small weddings like this, they are always a pleasure to capture ... here is a small selection..

Why to take your dog to your Wedding
There are so many reasons why you should take your beloved dog to your wedding day, but there are also a few precautions to take..
We all adore our furry companions and it's not a surprise that many couples want to include their pets in their wedding day.
Anne & Simon took their beloved Cockerpoo to their hotel Tresanton Wedding...
Let's face it, there is nothing more adorable than a french terrier in a tux! And if dress ups are not your thing, there are so many cute decoartive items you can buy. I've even seen custom made wedding collars or special flower arrangements to be fitted on lead and collar. Make sure you check with your florist though as some flowers are poisonous for dogs. Also any other dress up items should fit perfectly and not cause any discomfort, and ensure that any accessories like bow ties don't come loose and pose a choking hazard to your pet.
ask your florist to add a flower piece for your dog's collar..
matching outfits anyone?
If you're planning to include your dog, there are a few more precautions you need to take to keep your pet safe and happy during the day.
Consider your pet's personality, he can simply be a guest of honour or you can give them a specific role like ring bearer, flower girl or page boy. I photographed a wedding in St ives last year, where George the french bull terrier was the ring bearer of the day and they created a great short film to be shown at the ceremony. I hardly ever seen so many people laughing at a ceremony! The story was the following: It turns out that the best man forgot the rings at the ceremony! So he calls George to save the wedding day. George, lazy as he is, still in bed, gets the wake up call and has to chase through St Ives to get to the venue in time with the rings.. The film was not just funny and a great contribution to the ceremony, but also showed off the surrounding area and St Ives beaches beautifully. George became famous after the wedding as the film went viral on youtube with over 55000 views!
Here is the link:

But before you give your pet a starring role, think about if this will be an enjoyable experience for him. Even a most friendly and well behaved dog could be overwhelmed by a crowd of guests, so it's reasonable to organise a pet sitter. You can hire them or choose one of your friends who is familiar with your dog. It is just one thing less to worry about.
Make sure you include your pooch in some of the couple portraits. It's usually a great time of day where they can stretch their legs and come along with us for the photoshoot. I love getting them involved, they make some great shots!
At the reception you could include photos of your dog in the decoration, or make wedding favours in tribute to your pooch. I've also seen couples collecting and donating money to animal charities like the greyhound trust, which is a nice gesture and serves a good cause.
some table decoration ideas including your pooch..
With a lot to tick off your 'to do' list, it's easy to forget this simple-yet important step, check with the venue if your pet is allowed. You don't want to show up on the day with your four legged ring bearer in tow only to be told he needs to stay off the property!
And if you manage to take your furry friend to your big day, what's better than a fresh air dog walk in a beautiful setting to cure the hangover the day after..
doesn't he look pleased to take part at his owner's ceremony at The Green Cornwall Wedding & Events?

Best of 2017 Collection
Best of 2017 Collection. Its was a tough decision to make the cut, I had the opportunity to document so many beautiful wedding stories and visit such incredible places around the South West and further afield...
OMG it was a tough decision to make the cut, so many beautiful weddings and moments captured in 2017! So I would like to present you a rather large collection of the best shots from last year. It was a busy year and I have witnessed some beautiful people tying the knot in some incredible places in the south west and further afield.
Some of you braved the elements just to get some great photos, including torrential rain, thistle fields, dodging sheep poo, climbing up high cliffs and avoiding sparkler burns.. I have witnessed happy tears and raw emotion and of course lots and lots of alcoholic beverages which provided fuel for some wild parties and dancing! I can't tell you how fortunate I feel to have been able to document all your beautiful wedding stories, to meet so many lovely people and to make some new friends along the way.
I also had the opportunity to work with some great talented people in the UK wedding industry. Thanks for all your support, without you I wouldn't be where I am today.
Roll on 2018 for some more amazing adventures!
