Wedding Photography Tregenna Castle St Ives, Cornwall // Kristina & Scott

Kristina and Scott had a bit of an rollercoaster on the run up to their wedding day at Trevenna Castle in St Ives but were blessed with a scorcher of a day in the end…

Congratulations to Kristina and Scott who tied the knot on a beautiful sunny day at Trevenna Castle in St Ives. They had a bit of a rollercoaster on the run up to their wedding including Kristina breaking her wrist a week before and taxis not turning up to carry they guests to the wedding to name a few. However they had it all sorted in the end and were blessed with a scorcher of a day for their wedding here in Cornwall. With only 20 guests it was a relaxed and intimate day.

KRISTINA & SCOTT

TREGENNA CASTLE WEDDING

Trevenna Castle is a stunning venue with breathtaking gardens surrounded by enchanting woodland and seaviews over St Ives. The ceremony was held by the outside Pavilion on the beautifully landscaped grounds. I think everyone started to get a little emotional when Kristina walked up the aisle with her oldest son Kyle. Especially their youngest son Kayson, after he has fulfilled his duties as a groomsman and ring bearer he burst into tears, so cute!

After the ceremony the wedding party enjoyed drinks on the lawn whilst I took Rachel and Scott for a walk through the grounds for the couple portraits.

This was only a short package including ceremony and some photos after, but I felt honoured to document such a special ceremony with such a lovely bunch of people.

Here is a small preview.

Engagement Photo Session at Holywell Bay // Phoebe & Chris

I met Phoebe, Chris and their little pooch recently at Holywell Bay in Cornwall for an engagement shoot. They wanted some practise in front of the camera before their big day in July. A few of my favourites here…

I had the pleasure of finally meeting Phoebe and Chris. It’s been a while since they booked their wedding with me in July at The Green in Cornwall. They have brought their cute little dachshund miniature poodle cross ‘Whitley’ along for their engagement shoot at Holywell Bay. They booked a pre wed shoot with me as they are both not very confident in front of the camera and wanted some practise before their big day. I hope I could ease their nerves as my shoots are not about posing but rather having fun and going for a relaxed walk on the beach whilst I’m snapping along. Well, I might point you in the right direction sometimes if I see a nice composition, but most importantly it’s creating an atmosphere to put you at ease and relax.

So here you go, a few of my favourites of the gorgeous three!

Photography for the Clancy Family on Crantock Beach in Cornwall

It was a pleasure to meet Daniele and Connor a few year’s after their wedding here in Cornwall for some family portraits

I photographed Daniele and Connor’s wedding a few years back at the Eden Project. A lot happened since then. They now have a beautiful little family and I was so excited to meet them again to take some natural family portraits during their stay here in Cornwall. We went to Crantock beach and were blessed with beautiful evening light even though we had to deal with a pretty cold strong wind swirling up sand in our faces and on my camera gear! Tricky conditions but I love the results. Family photoshoots are best on the beach or in a familiar surrounding in your family home or holiday rental, where we can work with natural light where possible and you can just ‘be yourselves’ with no posing needed, just portraying a day out of your family life to capture beautiful memories…

If you want some candid family photos taken here in Cornwall, please email me for availability and more details

LAUREN & DAN

LOWER BARNS ELOPEMENT

The ceremony was held by the amazing registrar James Murray on his last day at work. I’m sure the Cornwall Wedding Industry will miss him as he always added that magic touch to weddings, some words of wisdom and wishing well to the newly married couples at the end of each ceremony, just a personal touch which makes it just that little more special.

After the ceremony we had a photoshoot in the beautifully Lower Barns grounds first before we headed to Caerhays beach to make the most out of the sunny day.

Wedding Photography Lusty Glaze Cornwall // Sarah & David

Sarah and David’s small wedding at Lusty Glaze in Cornwall - beach vibes and love, that’s what it’s all about…

Sarah and David’s wedding at Lusty Glaze was picture perfect! The sun was out and the beach was quiet for their small April wedding in Cornwall. Only 13 of their closest friends and family because of Covid restrictions and unfortunately Sarah’s parents couldn’t attend because of illness.

I couldn’t imagine a more relaxed wedding day with a whole beach almost by themselves as it was early in the season. Imagine a private cove just for you to play with on your wedding day with blue skies and torquois sea, sounds like a dream! Well for Sarah and David this dream came true! Relaxed beach vibes and lots of love, that’s what it’s all about…

I really enjoyed capturing this intimate wedding at Lusty Glaze, one of my favourite beach venues in Cornwall. If you’re planning to get married here or anywhere else in Cornwall, please contact me, I would love to hear all about it.

Here are a few of my favourites from the day. I hope you enjoy your little preview

Wedding Photography The Green Cornwall // Cameron & Kirsty

Kirsty and Cameron’s small wedding at The Green in Cornwall was an action packed day including archery and al fresco dining…

My first full day coverage this season and what a pleasure to photograph Kirsty and Cameron’s small wedding at The Green in Cornwall. So good to be back shooting weddings! Kirsty and Cameron originally planned for a bigger day with lots of their friends and family, however the current Covid restrictions only allow 15 guests. They still went for it and planned for an action packed day including some archery and even a first dance!

KIRSTY & CAMERON

WEDDING AT THE GREEN CORNWALL

I met the bridal party at The Green for some bridal preparation shots in the morning. I was greeted by a lovely relaxed vibe and just before I left to the church I caught Kirsty’s dad seeing his daughter in her wedding dress the very first time, a touching moment and I’m pleased I stayed for it. The ceremony was held in Callington Church where Kirsty’s family is from. Her mum is also a vicar and she did the blessing. After the church ceremony Kirsty and Cameron ventured back The Green in a vintage Bentley.

The weather was gorgeous, I’m pleased for them as we aren’t allowed to have receptions indoors yet. It was getting quite cool towards the evening, but fluffy blankets kept everyone cosy during the al fresco wedding dinner.

Here are a few of my favourites, Kirsty and Cameron, it was a pleasure to spend the day with you!

Top wedding tips for 2021

Many couples had to change their wedding plans during the global pandemic, but still many are still hoping to get married before 2022. Covid restrictions and rules and regulations about holding events keep changing. Here are our top tips for wedding planning during the strangest of years.

The global Covid pandemic has meant that 2021 started out as anything but a normal year. However, many people are still hoping to get married before 2022 begins. As Britain prepares to emerge from Covid restrictions and rules and regulations about holding events change, here are our top tips for wedding planning during the strangest of years.

wedding_tips_2021_4.jpg

Keep informed

As we have all found out over recent months, the Covid situation is constantly changing and so are rules regarding how events, such as weddings, can be held. Hopefully, the second half of the year will see all restrictions lifted, but it will still be necessary to keep abreast of the current conditions or the foreseeable future. Major news outlets such as the BBC are always a good source of information, or keep up with the latest government coronavirus advice and information online.

Stay flexible

Due to the unprecedented times we continue to live in, flexibility is key to so many things. It can be very difficult to maintain high levels of flexibility when it comes to planning large events, but it can be helpful to try to avoid being too rigid with your plans wherever possible. That might well mean celebrating what you can have on your wedding day, rather than focussing on things you might be missing out on. This can really help to adapt your mindset to suit the current climate, too.

Celebrate simplicity

In a year when a simple hug would be considered by many to be more valuable than diamonds, it is more important than ever to celebrate the simple things in life. This may not be the easiest year for holding or arranging extravagant events, but there has never been a greater time to appreciate and celebrate life itself. What better way to do this than to focus on the value of true love and the optimism that a wedding can create? There is no doubt there has been lots of disappointment over the past year, with many couples unable to hold the weddings of their dreams. However, there has also been lots of cause to put things into perspective and look forward to a more positive future. You can simply enjoy spending time with the people you love most in the world and accept that however that happens is just fine for now.

Make memories

There is unlikely to be another year in your lifetime that resembles 2021. Add a marriage to this, and it’s easy to see why it is more important than ever to make memories and record them this year. Even if you can’t have every person you want there for your big day, make sure you have a great record of one of the most momentous occasions of your life. People will be talking about Covid for many years to come, and you will never forget your wedding day. Combining the two and having a permanent record of events, whether in the form of photographs, videos, or both, is the best investment you could make.

Micro Wedding Photography Cornwall // Alyssa & Caidan

Alyssa and Caidan tied the knot at Heartlands in Cornwall. An exception wedding as Alyssa’s visa ran out. Originally planned for may they just went for it and said ‘I do’. After their ceremony we ventured to Holywell Bay for some beautiful portraits on the beach…

ALYSSA & CAIDAN

ELOPEMENT HEARTLANDS & HOLYWELL BAY

Alyssa and Caidan tied the knot at Heartlands Registry office on the 18th of march. Oh and you are wondering how they could get married because weddings aren’t allowed during lock down? Well, it’s a long story…

Weddingphotography_cornwall_ac_2.jpg

Alyssa and Caidan were originally supposed to get married in May here in Cornwall. I was very much looking forward to it as they have chosen a very local venue and their whole wedding just sounded lovely. Covid restrictions prohibited their wedding plans because Alyssa’s family wouldn’t have managed to travel over from the USA to attend. She spend her time here in St Newlyn East with Caidan since December and her visa was running out soon, they spontaneously decided to just get married in march and have a party later on. Visas are one of the exception rules for weddings at the moment. So it all worked out ok. However there were only two guests allowed during the ceremony and I wasn’t allowed to take images, such a shame! Alyssa said she always imagined her wedding to be different than it turned out to be, but I’m pleased they went for it and still had a lovely day. You can always party harder when we are allowed again and its going to be even more special!

I met Alyssa and Caidan and a close circle of Caidan’s family after their ceremony at Heartlands Cornwall to take some family photos. The two of them also wanted some images taken at Holywell Bay, their favourite beach, so we ventured there afterwards. Unfortunately it clouded over after a glorious start of the day. We still managed to take some lovely shots for their memory and for Alyssa’s family who couldn’t be there. I love the picture frames with her two granddads in the flower bouquet , they are also best friends, she told me. It was dedicated to one of her grandads who passed away early this year from Covid while she was here in the UK.

I enjoyed every minute of our little photoshoot. You two are definitely made for each other, so much joy and laughter, and I wish you the very best for your move to the States. Lots of Love x

Here is a small preview. I hope you like it!

Elopement Photography Lower Barns Cornwall // Amy + Kyle

Wedding Photography for a beautiful run away wedding at Lower Barns in Cornwall with Amy and Kyle who eloped just one day before the third national lockdown. Now that’s good timing!

AMY & KYLE

ELOPEMENT LOWER BARNS CORNWALL

Amy and Kyle are another one of my couples who showed true commitment to get married. They eloped at Lower Barns in Cornwall just 1 day before the third lock down, that’s what I call good timing! A mini winter escape with their lovely little one and playful rescue dog. It was a privilege to photograph their elopement at Lower Barns. I always get excited to visit this beautiful venue and coastline.

I agreed to be one of their witnesses so I was allowed in the ceremony room to take better images. The room is very small and during Covid restriction times I wasn't allowed in there, I’m glad we found a way around it! After the ceremony we made the most out of the lovely grounds at Lower Barns and took a few photos there, even though we had a crying baby to deal with we managed to take some lovely shots. Sadly I couldn’t join them for their ‘getting ready’ images because of new COVID restrictions, but I’m pleased the weather played it’s part and we could head to the beach for some couple portraits even though it was freezing in that northerly wind…Here is a mini preview

We got married in January, the day before the country went into national lockdown. It was an elopement wedding so just the two of us with our 3 month old baby and our dog.
We booked everything quite late notice and I was so happy to find Alexa had availability as I had stumbled upon her beautiful work.
Alexa was really quick to reply when chatting beforehand, really friendly and accommodating and so professional on the day. She even acted as a witness so she could come into the wedding room (it is too small to fit a photographer otherwise)
I hate having my picture taken usually and find it very uncomfortable but Alexa put us at ease and really knew what shots would work well and how to work with the light. We had photos at the venue and then at the beach. We have the photos back now and we love them so much! Perfectly captured the day in a natural way like we wanted. Also not an easy task with a crying baby and a barking dog!
100% would recommend Alexa and would use her again in the future.
Thank you Alexa xxx

Micro Wedding Photography Cornwall // Best of 2020

A round up of 2020 micro weddings and elopements. Small and beautiful intimate ceremonies marked the 2020 wedding season. A joy to capture these happy moments in such a strange year…

Here is my yearly round up. I wasn’t sure if I was going to write one from 2020, a year a lot of you had so high expectations for and yet it turned out so different, we could have never imagined!

This year’s wedding bookings were reduced by 90%, festivals, social gatherings and parties were canceled. A lot of time was spent in isolation or with limited groups of friends under tight restrictions. Life was put on hold, wedding were postponed and we are still waiting for a sense of normality to return. 2020 was a huge shock for all of us and we had to learn to live with uncertainty.

I know it’s been a tough time for a lot of couples who had to change their wedding plans last minute. It was touch and go for some weddings if they go ahead up to a couple of days before the date. Some of you managed to get married last minute before new restrictions came in place, a real rollercoaster! Thanks again for confiding in me, it was an honour to capture the utter joy of finally being wed after such a journey!

The few weddings and elopements I photographed in 2020 were especially moving. A lot of couples had to reduce their guest numbers and opt for a micro wedding or elopement instead of their originally planned big wedding. I loved every moment I witnessed as a micro wedding/ elopemnet photographer: small moments of intimacy and togetherness in the midst of isolation, family gatherings cherished like none before and somehow more special than many weddings I have photographed before.

A year of downs and ups, a year of devastation and change.

Yet I managed to travel to Germany a couple of times to see my mum the very last time. I appreciate the little time I had left with her. She sadly passed away in September after a 3 year battle with cancer.

But not all was negative, I have some positive changes and memories to look back on. Despite social distancing guidelines and masks we found a way to be together in small groups or online. In the first lock down I have enrolled in an online tutorial with the amazing Erika and Lanny Mann from ‘Two Mann Studios’ helping me to continue finding new creative solutions for my photography journey. I have spent a lot of time in nature appreciating where I live, I have learned stillness, which is a challenge for me as I feel I have to always be productive and ‘do something’. I also adopted a dog from Spain which I love words can’t describe.

Let’s look forward with a sense of optimism and hope. Some things will have changed for the better. In the meantime, stay safe and enjoy the stillness and opportunities it presents to you.

If you are worried about your wedding this year, please tell me, together we can work this through. I’m always there for you to assist you. Please don’t just change dates without asking for my availability. If you are planning a wedding or elopement this year, I have just a few ‘fill in’ spaces left, so get in touch!

Happy New Year everyone! Sending you lots of love and positivity x
