Wedding Photography at Porthpean House Cornwall // Nick & Emily
Emily and Nick’s wedding at Porthpean House in Cornwall. A beautiful relaxed vibe wedding overlooking the sheltered Cornish South Coast
What great day to capture, Emily and Nick’s wedding at Porthpean House was super relaxed ad personal. It was my first time at this beautiful beach house with acres of tranquil gardens just above the beach. A very special location, also featuring in Richard Curtis romantic comedy ‘About Time’!
‘We chose the venue because we wanted to celebrate next to the sea and have our close friends and family stay with us over the whole weekend (they stayed with us from Friday to Monday morning).’
They also opted for a marquee wedding which made it extra personal. So much of it was DIY - they made their own invitations, orders of service, menus, and brought candlesticks/flower tins and other decorations which they have been collecting for months. Oh and Emily made her very own wedding cake! They also set their own bar in the garden which they named after their favourite pub ‘The Lord Nelson’ in Southwold.
The beach is only a few steps away, so we ventured down there for a brief couple portrait session. Emily and Nick weren’t very fussed about a lot of staged or formal shots and rather wanted more photos of everyone enjoying themselves. The speeches were epic and are a great play ground for capturing emotions and a whole lot of laughter…
I love capturing days like this, no strict regimented time lines etc. just a relaxed day with the most lovely couple and their closest friends and family.
Here is a collection of my favourites…

Festival Tipi Wedding in Cornwall // Catherin & Marcus
Catherin and Marcus’ festival style tipi wedding in Cornwall. A day full of laughter, great entertainment, good music, general banter and good vibes…
Let’s just get one thing straight here, it does not matter what I write about this day, I simply will not do justice to how magnificently brilliant Catherin and Marcus’ wedding was…A true gem to share with you today, Catherin and Marcus’ festival style tipi wedding in Cornwall…
So I met Catherin and Marcus at his parent’s beautiful house in Trewoon to have a chat abut their big day. Straight away I thought what an amazingly wonderful pair! They have been together since 2006, so a true romance which was meant to be… theur true bond could be felt immediately. We had a walk around the beautiful grounds and a chat about their day, which was planned to be a chilled day of celebrations with friends and family, super informal, but mixed with great banter, dancing and entertainment, a festival style wedding in a tipi which sounded right up my street!!!
And it was, in fact it was more than that, it far exceeded the high hopes I already had when I drove to Trewoon on the morning of the wedding. The sun was out, the guys already opened their first beers, the gils had a right laugh getting ready…the ceremony was held in St Mewan Church just down the road. And it wasn’t just a wedding, it was also the christening of Freddie, Catherin and Marcus’ adorable son.
The reception was epic! Sunshine, laughter, lots of alcohol, fire pits, an old Jaguar, great food, great people, great music and good vibes. Oh and did I mention the entertainment would be by Marcus himself who happens to be a super talented singer/ songwriter…I surely couldn’t help myself singing along amongst the dancing crowd. So good! I’m sure I missed something…if I am, it’s all documented in the preview below, just go see…

Wedding Photography at The Green Cornwall // Sophie & Benedict
Sophie and Benedict’s festive winter wedding at The Green in Cornwall.
Oh I love a winter wedding especially close to Christmas time, there is just a special festive vibe in the air. Sophie and Benedict had an extension to their Christmas holidays with their very special day at The Green in Cornwall. They were supposed to get married last year and I’m pleased they could finally tie the knot. And weather wise, they were blessed with a dry winter’s day, December was definitely a better month to get married than August or October last year!
I met Sophie in the new bridal suite for her bridal preparation images, it was super busy in there so mum had to sit in the bath with her bubbles to watch everyone getting ready. No not the bubbles in the bathwater, I meant the drinking kind ha ha!
We also visited the guys to capture their last stages of getting ready. They were definitely in great spirits and a fun bunch to photograph.
Sophie’s dad was very excited to see his daughter in her dress the first time, what a moment to witness…
After the ceremony we ventured into the Green’s beautiful woodland for some couple portraits. I had a great time working with Chris from Babalu films again. It’s been years we worked together last. I’m usually working on my own and it’s refreshing working with videographers, when its the right ones…working as a team can refresh or ignite your creativity!
After the speeches we went back outside for a sparkler exit whilst The Green team cleared the barn for the evening entertainment. With it getting dark so early in December the party got in full swing pretty early and the dance floor was soon filled with everyone dancing. Benedict’s dad was the star of the evening with showing off some impressive dance moves and ending up on the floor several times! I don’t want to know how his hangover felt like the next day…
So here you go, the last wedding in 2021, some of my favourite shots from the day below.

Cerys and Jordan’s perfect mid summer al fresco wedding at Knightor Winery in Cornwall…
Cerys and Jordan had a wonderful day at Knightor Winery this August. Blessed with a warm mid summer day they could have an outdoor ceremony, al fresco dining in the courtyard, a Pinata followed by some great tunes and fire pits for roasting these ever so loved marshmallows. A perfect summer wedding.
How amazing is their dog Simba (hope I got the name right!), such a character, I love him. And the doughnut wedding cake, wait until you see the cake details on the topping, so cool!

I have to add that after I said I have used Canon all my career, I have now made the the decision to switch to Sony mirrorless for less weight and a few other reasons like focusing reliability. Also a lot of my gear needed updating. I kept one of my old trusted Canons as a backup.
My trusted gear up to the end of 2019
Best of 2019!
What a year it’s been! We fought the elements from torrential rain to high winds and bright sunshine, incoming tides, steep cliffs, made our way through muddy fields, ran away from cows…just to get our ‘poster shots’. I photographed intimate elopements with just the two of you and huge gatherings with family and friends from near and far. Sorry for all of you having to put up with my messy hair at the end of the day! I enjoyed being a part of every single celebration and feel honoured to document so much joy and happiness. I can’t tell you enough how blessed I feel to have such a great job. Thanks for confiding in me and have a great 2020, can’t wait to meet all the couples booked in with me this year soon! Love to you all you soppy lot!
Here is a collection of my favourite moments in 2019, I hope you like it… xxx
Cornwall Wedding Photography at Knightor Winery // Sophie + Joe
Sophie and Joe’s wedding at Knightor Winery in Cornwall was my last wedding this season. What a way to finish in torrential rain. We made it work though with some beautiful autumnal wedding photos in some shelter
My last wedding this season and what a way to finish in torrential rain!
It was my first ever Jehova’s Witness ceremony, which was held at the Kingdom Hall in St Austell. Afterwards we moved on to Knightor Winery for the reception. The ceremony was finished after 4pm and we had to be fast to get some photos done before the light was fading. Well gladly Sophie and Joe were so easy going and keen on getting some good photos of their day that we ventured out in wind and rain and made it work. We even found some lovely sheltered spots around Knightor’s grounds for some beautiful autumnal wedding photos
Knightor Winery has consists of beautiful rustic barns, perfect for smaller to medium sized weddings like this one. Beautifully decorated with lots of fairy lights and candles giving it an extra special festive look. I guess that’s the positive side of fading day light, the dark time of year can add a cosy and festive atmosphere to your celebration.
Sophie and Joe booked me for my half day package from ceremony until just after the speeches. Here is a preview of their day
If you are getting married at Knightor Winery or anywhere in Cornwall or Devon please contact me for further information.

Cornwall Wedding Photographer at Knightor Winery // Dylan + Jake
Cornwall Wedding Photographer for a beautiful late autumn wedding at Knightor Winery with Dylan and Jake
Dylan and Jake tied the knot late September at Knightor Winery. I love this venue for smaller weddings, it is located na stones throw away from the Eden Project and not far from St Austell and the South Cornwall Coast. A working winery with historic barns and 4 acres of land, an outside arbour and beautiful gardens it is a great location for your wedding celebrations and offers beautiful photos opportunities. The food is prepared from local produce and served with superb wine.
The weather was rather temperamental and kept changing, one minute it would be super sunny, the next minute the heaven’s gates opened with heavy downpours, at times it would happen all at once. Hence they had an indoor ceremony in one of the venues cosy barns. It also meant that we had to stay felxible with the photos and ended up doing a few sessions when it stopped raining.
The speeches were rather touching and tears were shed… I stayed until the first dance which soon after filled the dance floor. I’m sure Knightor’s fantastic wines had something to do with the party starting early in full swing…
Dylan and Jake, thanks so much for having me documenting your fantastic wedding day. Here is a little taster of the 6 hours I shared with you…
“We couldn’t recommend Alexa enough! Alexa’s work can clearly speak for itself as she is able to capture such intimate moments so beautifully. We honestly still keep looking at the pictures Alexa took of our special day and can’t help but smile and see more detail each time we do, On the day Alexa was amazing. She made us feel so at ease, took the time get to know us and what we liked and made everything feel so natural and easy. For us not being people who like our photo’s being taken, Alexa did such a wonderful job. Alexa was amazing with our guests. All of them have commented on how she effortlessly fit into the wedding and was brilliant at making everyone feel welcome, comfortable and at ease with her being there. If you are thinking of using Alexa, do it!! It will be the best decision you make!! Alexa was amazing from start to finish! ”

A small intimate wedding on Lusty Glaze beach on a sunny September’s day..
Sami and Lee tied the knot at Lusty Glaze on a beautiful sunny September day here in Cornwall. They had a small intimate day with just their closest family and friends. The beach was literally empty as the weather forecast was not as good as it turned out. I love photographing micro weddings and elopements, they just feel so special and I get to focus on the individual people more.
Sami and Lee I promised you a little preview. So here you go, I hope you like it.

Lusty Glaze Beach Wedding Photography // Richard + Hannah
Richard and Hannah got married at Lusty Glaze. Hannah’s wedding dress was the perfect match to the colour of the Cornish Sea on a sunny day…gorgeous!
It's not every day I can speak German to the guests at a wedding. Richard is german and Hannah english, so a few of the guests and family came over from Germany for their gorgeous beach wedding at Lusty Glaze here in Cornwall. It was a nice change to use my mother language at work, although I got a bit confused when to speak German and English, something I do, don’t ask why! I dream and think in English and count in German…strange I know..
Another short package for me, so I started just before the ceremony and stayed until just after the speeches.
Hannah's dress was just gorgeous! So nice to see a coloured wedding dress, something a bit different and the turquoise colour a perfect match to the Cornish Sea on a sunny day. I wondered how they perfectly matched it to Richard's tie - well I found out both the tie and dress were specially taylored for the day out of the same material. I like your style Hannah & Rich!
A lovely laid back day on the beach for the two and their friends and family. Filled with sunshine, blue skies, all around good vibes, great music by the talented Kaj and delicious food prepared by the team at Lusty. I just wish I could have stayed for the evening as I'm sure I missed a beautiful sunset!
Here is a little sneak peek, hope you like it.

“We hired Alexa for our wedding in September. Her service was very professional and we are very happy with the pictures that she took of the event. During a personal meeting beforehand we discussed what kind of pictures we were looking for. I would highly recommend her services to anyone looking for a wedding photographer!”
