Best of 2023 Wedding Photography

What a year, 2023 you were amazing! I feel truly privileged to do a job I love so much. The people I meet, the places I visit, the laughter, joy and love I witness and memories I capture put a big smile in my face. Thanks to all my couples for choosing me as your wedding photographer, you were amazing and I feel so honoured to have played a part in your very special day. Thanks a million for having me. Here is a look back at some of my favourite moments…to be honest there were hundreds and it was really hard to make this collection.

Roll on 2024, I know it will be a cracker!

Wedding Photography at Knightor Winery, St Austell, Cornwall // Louise & Tim

Louise and Tim tied the knot late October at the fabulous Knightor Winery in St Austell. One of my favourite and most visited venues here in Cornwall as it’s a great place for a relaxed vibe wedding all year round. Photo opportunities are plenty with a woodland drive, an orchard, plenty of rustic stone wall corners, a wooden arbour …and if you fancy some beach photos, it is a short drive away from a couple of stunning Cornish South Coast beaches.

I met Louise and her bride squat in the chalet for their bridal prep photos. Nice to work with Hannah Symons for makeup and Melody Rose for hair again. They are always great company and are super talented. And how good are the Dr Martens boots!

The guys were getting ready in the main house. They had some problems with the handkerchiefs, how to fold them and put them in their pockets, no-one had a glue! Not even I and I watched it so many times. It’s interesting how your mind works, I often get asked how to tie a tie, but I just observe the actual reactions and clueless faces etc. instead of memorising the ‘how’… So keeping it short, I was clueless too! Thankfully Louise’s dad came to help…

The ceremony was held in the main barn which looked stunning with beautiful autumn coloured flowers created by ‘Blossom and Kelp’ and the fairy lights added a festive atmosphere. Oh and Roger Miners on the piano.

Gladly it stopped drizzling and the weather brightened up for some photos outside straight after the ceremony before everyone headed back in for their wedding b breakfast and speeches. The speeches were super emotional, a lot of laughter but also some tears. Still one of my favourite parts of the day to capture!

It didn’t take long to fill the dance floor with this great bunch of people, so much fun and great music by the ‘Busketeers’…

Wedding Photography Launceston Cornwall // Bethany & Alex

I have photographed Bethany’s sister’s wedding a couple of years back. It was during covid times and they managed to have a small intimate wedding at The Green. It was such a pleasure to see the whole family again for Bethany and Alex’ wedding in September!

I met them for getting ready images at Bethany’s parents house in Launceston before we headed to the nearby parish church for the ceremony. Such a stunning ceremony with Bethany’s mum doing part of the final blessing.

There was a lovely woodland footpath for some photos straight after the ceremony and if course we made use of the stunning Jaguar for some more portraits before we ventured to Cowslip Workshops for the reception. Unfortunately the weather turned and we couldn’t head out for our second portrait session. But the mist and drizzle didn’t spoil Bethany and Alex’ day. After some epic speeches they soon got into party mode.

What an honour to capture your very special day Bethany and Alex! Thanks for confiding in me the second time round and I really enjoyed catching up with your lovely family again. I can’t wait to show you the full gallery soon. For now, here is a little taster

Wedding Photography at The Green Cornwall // Iona & Peter

Iona and Peter said ‘I do’at The Green Cornwall. I always lie coming here, it’s so relaxed when you turn into he drive covered by old one trees, you just feel like you’re miles away from everything. With it’s own woodland walk and rustic barn it is always a pleasure to photograph weddings here. And I walkways find new angles even after years visiting this place!

I wanted to show Iona and Peter a mini preview before I have a well deserved break in my camper van for the first 3 weeks in October. So I won’t be saying much about this wedding and prepare a proper write up once back from my trip.

All I can say, thanks for trusting me to photograph your beautiful day, Iona and Peter and for bringing your gorgeous German Shepard ‘Loki’ along with you…I love dogs at weddings especially when they are as handsome as ‘Loki’…

Oh Lusty, I just love you! Another beautiful wedding at one of Cornwall’s finest beach venues. Taylar and Phil’s day was fantastic from start to finish. Sunshine, blue skies, a great bunch of people, good food, great tunes and a beautiful sunset. What more would you want for a beach wedding in style.

I have a little back log of weddings still to edit, so I’m not writing to much in detail but rather let the images tell the story.

Lusty Glaze Beach Wedding Photographer // Sam & James

I’m super excited to present to you a preview of Sam and Jame’s fun filled beach wedding at Lusty Glaze in Cornwall. Voted best Coastal Wedding Venue in 2019’s UK Wedding Awards and for a reason: This little cove is one of the most romantic places in the Southwest, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and facing west it offers the best sunsets Cornwall has to offer and photo opportunities are plenty! It’s definitely one of my favourite local venues and you can hire it exclusively so the whole cove is yours for the day.

Sam and Jame’s special day was a picture book beach wedding, warm sunshine, turquoise sea, great music, singing waiters, a magician, an incoming tide for sea dips and lots of fun in the water and of course a magnificent sunset! What more would you desire from your special day on the beach! I loved this day, so many moments to capture that it was hard to make just a small selection to show to you guys.

Wedding Photographer at The Green Cornwall // Faith & Jack

This epic wedding at The Green in Cornwall was a fun filled blast from start to finish. Including a stunning decor inspired by the couple’s favourite movie classics, wedding rings made by their talented friend Jo Mathan, archery, garden games, limbo dancing and granddad being the star of the dance floor! I really enjoyed being Faith and Jack’s wedding photographer, they are such a lovely pair and Faith, words can’t describe what a beautiful person she is, a true angel and the most amazing bride. I’m so excited to show you a little preview of the day and I really struggled to just choose a few of my favourite moments captured as there were so many…

The Green Cornwall is one of my most visited venues in Cornwall and I always love photographing weddings here. People ask me if I get tired working at the same venue, my answer is no as every wedding is so different and every couple’s story is a new one to tell…So here you have a glimpse of Faith and Jack’s wedding day, I hope you enjoy what you see…

Cornwall Wedding Photography at The Green // Terry & Jade

Terry and Jade tied the knot at The Green in Cornwall on the 18th of July. It wasn’t a fully sunny day and showers were on the forecast but they managed to make their dream come true and got married under the oak trees with an outdoor ceremony. And the only rain we have seen that day was during the late afternoon meal, when everyone was inside the red brick barn, how lucky is that! Well, they did tell me they had buried a sausage the day before, apparently it helps hold off the rain, it definitely seems to work!

Jade made most of the venue decor herself and the barn looked stunning, I especially loved the paper curtain made out of coffee filters, genius! And it’s a good backdrop for photos, until the kids ripped it to bits. Oh and did I mention Jade’s dress was from ‘Rue de Seine’, their boho style gowns are just the best, so stunning. It’s definitely one of my top favourite wedding dress brands.

Terry and Jade weren’t keen on too many family photos and didn’t have traditional speeches. They did their wedding their way, which I love! You don’t have to stick to rules, have what’s important to you at your special day, not was the norm tells you to have… The lovely pair also have this beautiful vibe around them and really know how to make everyone feel welcome and appreciated. They even made me take the first ever group photo of the team behind the scenes, a Staff Photo in front of the really rustic barn. An appreciation of the people behind the the wedding, the ones which make sure the wedding day runs smoothly and couples have the best day ever… and The Green team are a dream team when it comes to weddings.

Wedding Photographer Mount Pleasant Eco Park Cornwall // Abby & Liam

Abby and Liam’s relaxed style wedding at Mount Pleasant Eco Park was amazing! They wanted a chilled laid back wedding venue who could also serve amazing vegan food, which didn’t turn out an easy task, and they have found just the right place for it!

Here is what Abby says about the Eco Park and Cornwall: ‘When we first got engaged in December 2020, we searched high and low for the perfect venue in our area, however they all fell short when it came to one thing… the food. I always knew I wanted a menu with the yummiest vegan options, but unfortunately lots of venues really struggled to meet our expectations. I’ve been a vegan for the past 4 years and Liam a vegetarian for 3 years, so this was something that was really important to us, not only the flavours, but the values that came with food creation and cooking. When we were about to give up, I stumbled across the Eco park online and after visiting them a few weeks later we had fallen in love with not only the food, but the beautiful venue. Cornwall has always held a special place in my (Abby’s) heart as my brother and I used to stay with our Gran in Cornwall every year during the summer holidays. Not only does it have some of the most amazing views, beaches and landscapes but the people and communities are the most relaxed, friendly and easy going, something we vibed with straight away!

With a sunny day and lots of garden games entertaining their guests it was one of the best laid back days I have photographed recently. And preferring a plant based diet these days, I had a delicious treat cooked up by the awesome team from the Canteen, thanks again guys for looking after me!

I met Abby and the bride clan for bridal prep photos at their accommodation in Porth, literally on Porth beach. Abby had the prime seat there with stunning beach views whilst she had her makeup and hair done. She got picked up in a shiny VW T1better known as ‘Honey’ from Honeybugs Cornwall to make her way down to Porthtowan. I love a wedding car or van and don’t see them that often anymore as a lot of people get married at wedding venues where everything is in one place and there is no need for transport. So I’m even more excited when I finally get the opportunity to take photos with the couple and their vehicle of choice!

The speeches, oh man, so emotional, Liam just couldn’t hold back his tears! So sweet, I love photographing a good speech exactly out of this reason, capturing pure emotions of you and your guests, my passion…

Liam and Abby’s highlights of the day: ‘The speeches. There was a lot of emotion and not a dry eye in the house! Each speech was truly heart felt and pained a beautiful picture of how the day came to be. 

The food was absolutely incredible, better than we could ever have imagined! We had a mix of Mexican and Caribbean street food and it did not disappoint! ‘

Wedding Photography at Porthpean House Cornwall // Nick & Emily

What great day to capture, Emily and Nick’s wedding at Porthpean House was super relaxed ad personal. It was my first time at this beautiful beach house with acres of tranquil gardens just above the beach. A very special location, also featuring in Richard Curtis romantic comedy ‘About Time’!

‘We chose the venue because we wanted to celebrate next to the sea and have our close friends and family stay with us over the whole weekend (they stayed with us from Friday to Monday morning).’

They also opted for a marquee wedding which made it extra personal. So much of it was DIY - they made their own invitations, orders of service, menus, and brought candlesticks/flower tins and other decorations which they have been collecting for months. Oh and Emily made her very own wedding cake! They also set their own bar in the garden which they named after their favourite pub ‘The Lord Nelson’ in Southwold. 

The beach is only a few steps away, so we ventured down there for a brief couple portrait session. Emily and Nick weren’t very fussed about a lot of staged or formal shots and rather wanted more photos of everyone enjoying themselves. The speeches were epic and are a great play ground for capturing emotions and a whole lot of laughter…

I love capturing days like this, no strict regimented time lines etc. just a relaxed day with the most lovely couple and their closest friends and family.
