December Collection Wedding Awards YPW
I'm stoked Lucy and Marc's 'veil in the wind' image was selected in the december collection of YPW's wedding photo award competition..
I'm totally stoked to be yet again selected in the monthly round up of the YPW Wedding Awards competition. Lucy and Marc's image taken at Lucy's parent's farm was one of my favourite shots of the last wedding season. Here is a little background story of the photo: I took Lucy and Marc to their parent's farm for a few private couple photos. We had to climb through fields with bulls on and I was a little nervous but felt in safe hands with a farmer's couple. The high grass served as a beautiful setup for some shots, however the veil constantly blew into Marc's face and caused a lot of laughter!

Laura & Martyn's late autumn wedding at Trevenna Barns, Cornwall
Laura & Martyn's 'rocknroll' wedding late autumn at Trevenna Barns in Cornwall.
Laura & Martyn were married on the 12th of November at Trevenna Barns in the heart of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall. As soon as I entered the bridal suit for the getting ready photos I was welcomed by a super friendly vibe and I was stunned by Laura's makeup, hair and dress so matching to her unique style. Even the dress was carefully chosen to match the rest, very cool! A proper 'rocknrollbride'! When I entered the reception room to take the decoration shots I couldn't stop taking photos, it's so refreshing to see something a little different to pale coloured lace and roses. The 'corpsebride' inspired DIY wedding cake was made by Laura's sister in law Grace, and it's one of my favourites this season.
We were lucky with the weather which was changeable with sunshine and showers, typical for this time of year. But who cares about the weather anyway if you have an umbrella with a skull on it!
I was told by one of Laura's friends that they have a surprise for them just after their first dance. And what a surprise it was! Laura and Martyn love beards and when everyone entered the dance floor with ginger beards on, it was definitely the highlight of the day!
Here is a collection of my favourite shots from the day..
Venue: Trevenna Barns // Date: 12.11.16 // Dress: Sophia Tolli // Suit: Debenhams // Makeup: 'Dollface'-Laura Nolan Teague // Hair: by Laura // Flowers: Launceston Flowers // Cake: DIY // Decorations: DIY by Laura
Leigh & Karl's elegant wedding in Talland Bay Hotel, Cornwall
Leigh and Karl's elegant coastal wedding in Talland Bay Hotel in Cornwall..
Leigh and Karl were married on the 5th of November in Talland Bay Hotel near Looe in Cornwall. They've chosen the boutique hotel as they love to spend their holidays here. When I arrived at the hotel eralier in the year to meet them both for their pre wedding consultation, I immediately knew why they had fallen in love with this place! With it's eclectic style and overlooking the south cornish coast it serves as a perfect wedding venue for a smaller celebration and for a photographer it really has a wow factor, wherever you look there are some new features to discover and photograph. They were blessed with a beautiful sunny late autumn day and I'm pleased we could take most of the portrait shots in the hotel's stunning gardens overlooking the sea. The speeches were great and made me laugh out loud at times, especially when Karl received his best man's present, a portrait of Karl edited into a James Bond poster printed on canvas. Someone showed off their photoshop skills here! The hotel has a nice intimate and calm ambience to it and the meal was delicious to say the least, not a surprise for an award winning chef! Thanks again for looking after me.
Here is a collection of my favourites from the day. Wow and look at them wedding shoes, my favourites this year so far!

Laura & James rainy wedding in St Ives, Cornwall
James and Laura show us that even a rainy wedding by the beach can be fun..
It rained all day on Jame's and Laura's wedding day in St Ives, Cornwall in late november. However it didn't stop us venturing down the Porthminster beach for some couple portraits equipped with umbrellas and several rain protectors including some waterproof walking trousers for my camera gear. Congratulations Laura & James! Thanks for being so easy going and making these portraits possible.. More from this wedding coming very soon..
Kate & Kieren's late autumn wedding at Knightor Winery in Cornwall
Kate and Kieren's late October wedding at Knightor Winery in Cornwall..
Kate and Kieren were married on the 29th of October at Knightor Winery in Cornwall. It was a mild late autumn day and gladly the rain stayed away. The venues gardens looked beautiful with autumn colours and an even overcast light, great conditions for the couple portraits.
The table decorations were kept simple and reflecting their jobs, Kieren works in IT and Kate in Astronomy: cut out paper hearts with the numbers 0 and 1 printed on them and spread over the tables along with wintery green twigs and jam jar tea lights.
A ceilidh band got the dance floor moving with traditional scottish folk songs and nearly everyone joined in. Definitely the highlight of the day even though a bit chaotic to photograph at times..
I wish Kate and Kieren all the best for their new venture moving to the United States to start a new career.
Here are a few of my favourites of the day..
Venue: Knightor Winery, Cornwall // Date: 29.10.16 // Makeup: Nicola Taylor // Flowers: Floral Creations St Austell // Dress: Emma Roy Edinburgh // Music: North Cornwall Ceilidh Band
Congratulations Laura & Jo at St Ives Harbour Hotel
Laura and Jo's same sex wedding in St Ives. I loved shooting the two lovely brides on the beach in the beautiful St Ives light..
This is my first same sex wedding I've shot and I can't tell you how much i was looking forward to shoot two brides on their wedding day! Laura and Jo were married on the 24th of October in St Ives. Unfortunately it never stopped raining that day, but St Ives still delivers beautiful light for some couple shots on the beach and I'm pleased Laura and Jo braved the weather equipped with a bright pink heart shaped umbrella and some converse trainers.. Here are a few shots from the day
Dan & Madeleine's autumn wedding at The Edenproject, Cornwall
Dan and Madeleine's mid October wedding at The Edenproject in Cornwall.
Dan and Madeleine were married on the 15th of October at the Edenproject in Cornwall. It was the last wedding of the season as it starts getting cold in the mediterranean biome at night this time of year. Lots of blankets kept and generous rounds of shots kept everyone warm during the meal and speeches. The reception was held up in a function room near the Eden's reception, so everyone enjoyed a fun train ride back up the top after the meal. Sitting amongst the guests on that train made me long for a glass of wine or two!
The Eden is one of a kind venue and a delight for every wedding photographer just because it is a little different and offers lots of photo opportunities whatever the weather.
Here is a selection of my favourites from the day..
Venue: Edenproject, Cornwall // Date: 15.10.16 // couples names: Madeleine & Dan // Makeup: Tamsin Siddiqui // Hair: Lisa Gadsby // Dress: The Wedding Wardrobe // Suit: Lower Marsh London // Flowers: Flower Fairies at Eden // Cake: Cupcake Mama, Cornwall // Videography: Charlotte Dart
Dan & Melody's laid back late summer wedding @Polhawnfort, Cornwall
Dan and Melody's laid back style late summer wedding at Polhawnfort in Cornwall..
Dan and Melody were married on the 20th of September at Polhawnfort on the South Cornish Coast. They were blessed with a beautiful sunny day and I think it's the last hot summer's day I can remember this year! Melody works in the music industry in London and has lots of talented friends who helped her with her wedding preparations including the amazing Helen Roche make up artist. I absolutely love the 30's touch to Melody's hair and makeup, very fitting to her stylish wedding dress.
Dan and Melody weren't keen on posed shots and I'm pleased I didn't receive a long list of group shots from them. They just let me do my thing, so I mixed in with the guests and enjoyed documenting their very special day starring their labradoodle, an ice-cream trike, stone oven baked delicious pizza, DIY garden games, lots of alcohol, fun and laughter.. Here is a shortlist of my favourites..
Venue: Polhawn Fort, Cornwall // Date: 20.09.16 // Makeup: Helen Roche // Dress: Joanne Fleming Design // Pizza: Kernowforno // Ice Cream: Devonvintageicecreamvan
Gina & Paul's september wedding at Rose in Vale Country House, Cornwall
Gina and Paul's late September wedding at the stunning Rose in Vale Country House in Cornwall..
Gina and Paul were married on the 17th of September at the Rose in Vale hotel. Rose in Vale is a stunning Country House Hotel located in a tucked away sheltered valley not far from the Cornish coast in St Agnes.
They love their springer spaniel Mischa and I'm pleased we managed to take some photos with her, even though she had more interest chasing the ducks in the pond. I love Mischa's polaroids amongst the stylish table decorations and DIY seating plan. The donation cards for the dog trust is also a great idea for a good cause.
A great day with a great bunch of people. I'm stoked some of the autumn colours started showing in the leaves for some stunning portraits.. Here is a collection of some of my favourites from the day.
