Clare & Sam's casual wedding in Exeter, Devon
Clare and Sam's relaxed style devon wedding at Exeter Castle, followed by a reception in Double Locks Pub on the outskirts of Exeter..
Clare and Sam were already married in Santander, Northern Spain, a few weeks ago, where they had a small celebration at Clare's father's house. They also wanted to have a celebration with their english friends and family in the UK, so they decided to have a ceremony in Exeter Castle and a casual reception in Double Locks Pub on the outskirts of Exeter. They were blessed with great weather, which was surprising after the long spell of showers we had already here in the Southwest recently, it was certainly a nicer day in between the rain storms! The decorations were all DIY and everything else was held in a real casual and relaxed style, just the kind of day I enjoy capturing.. no set formula, just everyone enjoying themselves with lots of laughter, drinks and dancing..
The DJ set sounded promising and the party started straight after the first dance, I even caught myself tapping my feet to the beats.. I guess I would have stayed if I wouldn't have had to drive 1,5 hours to get home..
What a beautiful day and lovely couple to work with! Here are some of my favourites..
Ceremony Venue: Exeter Castle // Reception Venue: Double Locks // Date: 05.08.17 // Flowers: family's friend // Hair: DIY // Makeup: DIY// Dress: Patrick Casey // Suit: French Connection // Cake: DIY // DJ: Offbeat Entertainment
Alex & Zachary's beautiful cornish wedding at Carlyon Bay Hotel
Alex and Zachary's classic style cornish wedding at Carlyon Bay Hotel
Alex and Zachary's wedding day had it all, from sunny glimpses to blustery showers, a typical cornish summer's day. I arrived in the bridal suite only 1 hour before the ceremony because Alex only wanted just a few final bridal prep shots. The talented Sally Orchard was doing her magic and everyone looked stunning.
The weather was to our favour and it was dry for an outdoor ceremony. I'm so pleased for Alex and Zach as that's what they really wanted so much to be married outside. And it makes my job much easier, I love working with natural light.
I enjoyed capturing the day for them, a celebration in classic style.
I'm still not sure what I enjoyed more though the golf buggy ride to the private beach for the couple portraits or to capture the hilarious facial impressions during the ceilidh dance..
Venue: Carlyon Bay Hotel // Date: 15.07.17 // Flowers: Escential Blooms // Hair: Sarah Hooper (Capella Hair) // Makeup: Sally Orchard // Dress: Noemi Neoh from Bridal House of Cornwall // Cake: DIY // Ceilidh Band: Blue Jewel
Hana & Phil's sunny wedding in St Ives Guildhall
Hana and Phil tied the knot in St Ives on a beautiful sunny July day after the recent storms destroyed their marquee in St Agnes..
Hana and Phil supposed to get married at St Ives Guildhall and the venture to a marquee near St Agnes for their reception. We had really bad stormy weather from wednesday before the wedding and it turned out half of their marquee got destroyed by the storm. They found out Friday morning, but they didn't let the bad news destroy their wedding plans! With help of friends and family they moved all the decorations to the St Ives Guildhall and turned the room around in just 1 day.. I was stunned how beautiful everything looked when I arrived and was so pleased for them that they could still have their wedding. The stories passed and it turned out a beautiful sunny day in St ives with lots of laughter and a great atmosphere, a real pleasure to capture.
Here are a few of my favourite images of the day, I really struggled to make it a small selection..

Devon Wedding Photography // Catherine & Laurence
Catherine and Lawrence celebrated in style in a Tipi style marquee right on Branscombe beach on the South Devon Coast..
Catherine and Laurence were married in a tiny church near her grandparents house in the small hamlet of Fishpond Dorset. Her grandparents used to be church wardens there and their house is just a couple of hundred meters up the road. After the ceremony everyone ventured to the house for some drinks to celebrate in their beautiful garden with views over the Dorset coast. We then ventured to the reception venue, a tipi style marquee right on Branscombe beach on the South Devon coast, ca 45 minute drive away. They told me it would be a Tip tent wedding by the beach, but I was breathtaking by the location when I arrived, it was literally on the beach!
Catherine and Laurence had it all for their day, scorching weather, blue skies, a beautiful tipi provided by World Inspired Tents, tasty Paella made by the lovely crew from Hermanos Paella, a Cheese Van for snacks, a Ceilidh Band and a marshmallow roasting pit and much more..
Here are a few of my favourites from a scorcher of a day on a beautiful beach in Devon

A perfect day at Prussia Cove in moody cornish light..
Zoe and Dave's fantastic wedding at Prussia Cove. It drizzled all day but I kind of liked the moody cornish light..
Congratulations Zoe & Dave! It would have been better with some sunshine, but I kind of liked the moody cornish light down at Prussia Cove. What a stunning venue tucked away on the end of the road set on top of the cliffs!
The DIY/ vintage themed decoration was a pleasure for the eye to capture especially with the beautiful flowers mixed in from the talented George Mackay.
My highlight was the cake judging and the open mic night. Dave and Zoe love music and Dave has his own band, so I wasn't surprise that the open mic night was a great joy to listen to and really got everyone involved singing along creating a great atmosphere. I didn't want to leave I enjoyed it so much! Who needs festivals when you can work at weddings ;-)
I really struggled to make a small selection, but here you go, just a few of the highlights..

Chris and Beth relaxed vibe wedding at The Green Cornwall
Chris and Beth's relaxed vibe wedding at The Green Wedding and Events in Cornwall..
Chris and Beth tied the knot on the 13th of may at The Green Cornwall Weddings & Events. The Green feels like a second home to me meanwhile as I have shot so many weddings there and had the honour of photographing the venue for their webpage update last year. It's a beautiful drive over Bodmin Moor and as soon as I drive down the green valley to The Green I immediately feel relaxed. There is something about this place..
Beth and Chris' stayed there for the weekend with their closest friends and family to celebrate in a relaxed style. The day had a beautiful vibe to it and couldn't have been more relaxed and fun. We had everything from sunshine, overcast, rain and wind, typical cornish weather! Good that the rain stayed away until 4pm, so we could have a wander down the woodland for some couple portraits. I was stoked to find the bluebells still flowering and it's definitely one of my favourite shots from the day.. Beth was well prepared and had 2 sets of wedding shoes, the sparkly kind and some lovely Dr Martens to be comfortable for our photoshoot.
The reception was held in the new wedding barn. It's my first wedding I shot in there this year and I instantly love it. Lots of light in there even on an overcast day, which is always good for me and makes my job easier..
Here is a selection of my favourites..
Edenproject Wedding Photography // Daniele & Conor
Daniele and Conor's church wedding in St Pedroc's church in Padstow followed by a reception at the Edenproject. A beautiful sunny day in Cornwall..
Daniele and Conor were married on the 29th of april in St Pedroc's church in Padstow. They stayed in Mawganporth and had their reception at the Edenproject. When I first heard about the day plan at our wedding consultation, I must admit I was getting a bit worried about the logistics getting from A to B to C on a bank holiday in Cornwall! I guess we got lucky with traffic and parking and it all went smooth and none of the guests got lost on the way :-)
We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day and the Edenproject is always a pleasure for the eye, a photographer's delight as it is so different from any other wedding venue in so many ways. They really know how to create a relaxed vibe for a wedding, maybe part of it is that you don't have to worry about the weather as you are in a Mediterranean Biome. It's as close as you can get to have a 'destination wedding' in Cornwall.
Daniele and Conor are truly made for each other. Conor is Irish and Daniele is Brazilian and they met at university. As the vicar said during the ceremony, he believes in faith and some people are meant to meet each other even though from different parts of the world.. I think he's got a point there :-)
What a great day! Here are just a few of my favourite shots..

Katie & Darren's beach wedding at Lustyglaze
Katy and Darren's beach wedding at Lustyglaze. It rained all day but we managed to do some nice couple portraits on the beach during a gap in the clouds..
Katie and Darren were married at Lustyglaze on the 6th of may. I always look forward to shoot weddings at Lusty, it's one of the only wedding venues directly on the beach and tucked away under magnificent cliffs it feels sheltered and more private than the main beaches in this area. There are countless photo backdrops to choose from, a great playing field for any wedding photographer.
They also have a great team of dedicated friendly staff which really help creating a great relaxed day on the beach.
Katy is a designer and I love the effort she put into the mostly DIY decoration, the torquois beach scheme is a perfect fit for this venue.
Unfortunately it hardly stopped raining on the day, but everyone had a fantastic day anyway and during a gap in the clouds we managed to go on the beach for some nice couple portraits. Here is a small preview...

Lauren & Ian, a misty march wedding at Polhawnfort, Cornwall
Lauren and Ian's misty wedding at Polhawnfort in Cornwall..
Lauren & Ian tied the knot on the 11th of march 2017 at Polhawnfort in Cornwall. I haven't met them before which is unusual, as I normally try and meet couples before the big day. We had a FaceTime call before the big day, so I've kind of seen their faces before, but I always think it's better to meet in person. In this case it didn't matter as they are so lovely people which made me feel really welcome from the start and I soon felt like being one of their guests.
When I drove down the windy coast road in the misty drizzle I just hoped the rain would stop in the afternoon, so we could go down the beach for some shots. Even though the mist created a moody scenery, very cornish and perfectly fitting to the stunning venue tucked away on the side of a cliff at the end of the windy road.
Lauren and the bridal party were getting ready in Blue Monkey Cottage, a luxury self catering stay in the heart of Cawsands. I couldn't stop putting an 'aaaaaawwww' face on when I've seen the interior, such a beautiful cottage! Apart from poor Lauren coming down with a cold and being 'drugged up' with painkillers and cold and flu tablets everyone seemed to be very relaxed and looking forward to the big day..
The ceremonies always looks very festive in Polhawnfort, it's a pretty dark venue and challenging at times, but I do like shooting weddings there, especially because it has such great backdrops for photos on the grounds and the secluded beach. We got lucky and the drizzle stopped just when we walked down the steps to the beach. I'm really pleased how the photos turned out, it couldn't look more cornish.
I was only booked for half a day and left after the speeches, which were hilarious! Ian's brother brought a box filled with Ian's embarrassing 'collectables' from past years and being a TV presenter he knows how to do a good speech!
Here are few of my favourites from the day..
Venue: Polhawnfort // Date: 11.03.17 // Dress: Chameleon Bridal, Bournemouth // Flowers: Ruth Andrew from Polhawn Fort // Caterers: BED Catering, Plymouth // Hair and Makeup: Gem Ryder // Cake: Best Man's girlfriend, Olivia Chenery

It’s your day so do what you want! It’s hard I get it, guest lists, kids or no kids, are dogs welcome, should I invite that auntie and uncle I haven’t seen in years, should I hire a wedding car …But life is short and traditions are there to be broken. Do what you feel like doing and not what you think is expected!
I curated some tips to help you make the most out of your wedding day and photography…

When searching for your wedding photographer, you’ve probably fallen in love with a particular wedding photography style — whether that’s documentary, editorial, film-inspired, or something with a fine art edge. Choosing a style you love is important, but beyond the aesthetic, have you thought about which moments from your wedding day you’ll want to relive forever?
